Truly breathtaking, from the legendary basalt columns of the Giant's Causeway to the haunting Fermanagh Lakeland, Northern Ireland has a wealth of treasures to share.

Mount Stewart House and Garden

Neo-classical house and celebrated gardens. Mount Stewart is one of the most inspiring and unusual gardens in the National Trust's ownership. The garden reflects a rich tapestry of design and great planting artistry that was the hallmark of Edith, Lady Londonderry. The mild climate of Strangford Lough allows astonishing levels of planting experimentation. The formal areas exude a strong Mediterranean feel and resemble an Italian villa landscape; the wooded areas support a range of plants from all corners of the world, ensuring something to see whatever the season.

Rowallane Garden A true plantsman's garden in an informal style. Created in the mid 1860s by the Reverend John Moore, this informal plantsman's garden reflects the beautiful natural landscape of the surrounding area. There are spectacular displays of shrubs, including a large collection of rhododendron species and several areas managed as wildflower meadows.

Castle Wardtruly beautiful 332-hectare (820-acre) walled demesne with walking trails, exotic garden, stunning vistas and picturesque farmyard. Stunningly unique 18th-century mansion, famed for its mixture of architectural styles.

Florence Court Beautiful 18th-century house. There is something for all the family at this warm and welcoming 18th-century property, the former home of the Earls of Enniskillen. The house enjoys a peaceful setting in west Fermanagh, with a dramatic backdrop of mountains and forests. There are glorious walks to enjoy, as well as fine vistas and play areas. There is even a charming walled garden. Every aspect of life in this classical Irish house, with its fine interiors and exquisite decoration, are brought to life on fascinating guided tours. Outside there are numerous places to explore, including a sawmill, ice house and thatched summer house.

Castle Coole Magnificent 18th-century mansion and landscape park. Experience the stately grandeur of this stunning 18th-century mansion set in a beautiful wooded landscape park ideal for family walks. Castle Coole is one of Ireland's finest Neo-classical houses, allowing visitors to glimpse what life was like in the home of the Earls of Belmore.

Downhill Demesne and Hezlett House A stunning landscape and beautiful gardens. Here you will find magnificent cliiftop walks, affording rugged headland views across the awe-inspiring North Coast. Discover the striking 18th-century mansion of the eccentric Earl Bishop that now lies in ruin, then explore Mussenden Temple, perched on the cliff edge. As an extra treat you can learn about the reality of life in the rural 17th-century cottage of Hezlett House, told through people who once lived there in one of Northern Ireland's oldest buildings.

Springhill A pretty 17th-century 'Plantation' home with a significant costume collection. Experience the beguiling spirit of this inimitable 17th-century 'Plantation' home, with its walled gardens and parkland, full of tempting waymarked paths. Includes the newly opened Dutch Garden.

Giant's Causeway Volcanic activity 60 million years ago led to the formation of the 38,000 basalt columns that make up the Giant's Causeway. Hexagonal in shape, the stones stretch far out into sea and some stand as tall as 36ft (12m). The site has attracted international attention for its unique geological make-up, but locals have their own story to tell.

The National Trust is a registered charity and leading environmental organisation, looking after special places for ever, for everyone.

The Northern Ireland Heritage Gardens Committee was established in 1980 to prepare and publish an inventory of parks, gardens and demesnes of historic importance within Northern Ireland. Membership was subsequently expanded to broaden the expertise and to bring the committee into contact with other organisations concerned with the management and conservation of our plant and garden heritage.
